GET A RIGHT ROYAL RESULT AT THIS BERKSHIRE FISHERY

-

ARE you after some hectic rod-bending action in stunning surroundings this weekend?

Well, why not pay a visit to one of the finest pleasure fisheries in the South of England?

The Royal Berkshire Fishery offers you the choice of three superbly well-stocked lakes, meaning the chance of a bite is always on the cards – but what tactics should you adopt for the best results?

Over the last bank holiday an evening match was held which ran from 2pm until 8pm.

The winner on the day was Dan Blackwell, who fished the patio peg on Lake 3. Dobbing across to the tree was the successful method, along with catching a few down the edge, and he weighed in 154lb 6oz. Plenty of F1s are showing along with the carp, and you can catch them on a variety of methods.

Fishing shallow with 4mm Dynamite carp pellets is doing well, and corn over groundbait in the edge will also score, as will the Method feeder. The lakes fished brilliantly, with four weights topping 100lb.

Although the complex holds matches, it is perfectly suited to the pleasure angler too. Those who are after silver fish action should try Lake 1 or 2, where the average stamp of roach is fantastic at around 8oz. Catching them is straightforward enough. Use the pole or waggler to present caster or maggot on the drop – corn or pellet may select the larger fish. If they aren’t having it shallow, try maggot over groundbait on the deck.

There are also numbers of good sized skimmers – try pellet or meat but tackle up accordingly, as you’re bound to hook rogue carp on meat!
