TENCH, bream, roach, crucians, carp – you name them, they’re feeding right now! There’s a huge wealth of fishing to choose from at the moment, and this week’s issue reflects that variety, with some awesome features from our exclusive team of regular columnists and guest experts.

Paul Garner and Dai Gribble are both on the tench trail this week, and their bait and swim advice is second-to-none...it’ll definitely put more fish in your net.

It’s ages since I raked a swim for tench and to be honest it was a bit of a disaster, as the carp moved in so quickly that the tench barely got a look-in.

But, as Dai points out, you don’t need to remove a lorry-load of weed – just enough to give your hookbait a chance to fish on a clear bottom.

After reading his column I’m definitely going to give it another go, this time using a castable weed rake as he recommends.

Don’t forget, it’s less than two weeks until the rivers are back in action. This opens up a huge number of other opportunities and tactics for you to go at.

Check out next week’s Angling Times for a brilliant guide to pre-season, with fresh advice for making your opening weekend a special one.

Finally, huge congratulations to Angling Times Match Angler of the Year Jamie Hughes, who’s won a place in the £50,000 Golden Reel final at Larford Lakes in September.

In case you missed it, he’s already through to the Fish O’Mania and Maver Match This Finals too – the big treble is on, mate!
