In deep water you need to get your hookbait down into the feeding zone quickly, so a bulk of No8 shot set three-quarters of the way down your rig is perfect. Bream love to watch a bait falling through the water and will often take it as it’s descending or follow it down and nail it as soon as it hits the bottom.
