Bait-Tech Viaduct leading the way with triple ton nets reported

WITH spawning out of the way on most commercial fisheries, anglers have been able to settle down to some serious fishing – and some big weights have been reported across the country.
Somerset water Bait-Tech Viaduct fishery is never far away when big weights are mentioned.
And this week is no different, with the latest round of the Spring League seeing a massive 325-5-0 winning weight for Preston Innovations Thatcher’s man Sam Powell. From peg 85 on Cary Lake, he bagged 36 carp – 20 on pellet shallow tactics, the rest from the margins.
Runner-up Craig Edmunds also joined in on the triple ton action, bagging 304-10-0 from Campbell Lake to earn himself an all-important section win. He now sits on a perfect four points in the league, the same as Aiden Borduik.
Staying in the south, Garbolino/ Bait-Tech angler Mike McMillan organised a two-day bash at Kent’s Monk Lakes to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and honour the memory of his late father, George, an impressive £1,625 going into the coffers from generous anglers. The fishing wasn’t shabby either, Essex bagger Pemb Wrighting winning with a perfect two points after weighing in 235-4-0 from Lake 2 and 188-12-0 from Lake 1. Ross Harold also chipped in with a double ton on day two with 277-8-0 from Lake 2.
Massive weights haven’t only been confined to commercials, though, as the Aire & Calder Canal at Heck finally saw a ton of bream taken after several near misses in the Mirfield AC Spring League.
Craig Turbitt was the man to do it, heaving 105-12-0 of slabs on to the scales from peg 128, where he fished groundbait feeder with worm and caster. Second place went to John Cyrowski with 74-12-0 of bream.
It’s also been a busy few weeks on the big-money match qualifier front.
Fish O’Mania saw two more men win through as Adam Richards took the midweek eliminator at Guru Makin’s Fishery with 154-6-0, making it yet another final for the Browning man.
Joining him at Cudmore next month is Andy Dargue, the Mosella Quaker man getting the best of a peg-to-peg battle with Ben Fisk at The Oaks Fishery with 263-6-0 of carp on paste. The Colmic Golden Reel event also welcomed a double-header. Preston Innovations ace Andy Power won at Partridge Lakes with 107-1-0 from Covey Canal 5.
And at Barston Lakes, Jack Danby did the business with 120-4-0 of carp on pellet shallow off peg 69 on the dam wall. That left the final big qualifier of the week as the Maver Mega

Match This bandwagon rolled into Maver/Dynamite Baits Hayfield Lakes, host venue for the £70,000 final later this summer.
Cresta-backed David Burley took his chance from Adam’s Lake, bagging 114-2-0 of carp on pellet shallow tactics.
