PAUL AND BOB SHOW IS MUST-SEE TELLY

WHATEVER our taste in fishing shows, any series featuring Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer is must-watch TV. Paul is a very good angler indeed and enjoys his fishing, particularly for tench. In fact an episode in their new series is devoted to them.

I know this for a fact because I once had Mr Whitehouse as a guest on Tight Lines and we visited an Oxfordshire estate lake to fish for them.

We discovered that Terry Hearn was one of his angling heroes so we had Tel show up and be waiting in his bivvy to surprise him. Terry did exactly that, catching a 31lb 11oz carp literally to order. Sadly, our camera team were stuck in traffic and didn’t make it.

Nonetheless we had a great day’s fishing and laughing, and the tench obliged gracefully.
