SHORT HOOKLINKS RULE

-

Because I’m after fast bites, it makes sense to use as short a hooklink as I can. This means 4ins or, if rules allow, even 3ins. That way the bait will always be in among the feed pellets – even as much as two inches further away can seriously reduce how quickly you are catching.

Mainline is 8lb Sinking Feeder Mono with a hooklink made up of 0.17mm Powerline to a size 16 KKM-B hook fitted with a pellet band. On the subject of baits, a plain 6mm hard pellet is tough to beat but a Chocolate Orange Band ’Um can make a good change bait.
