47lb HERCULES BEST OF FOUR AT HORTON CHURCH LAKE

-

THE long drive from Somerset to Horton Church Lake proved worth it for Dan Adams when he banked four fish over 30lb, including Hercules at 47lb 2oz. Dan told Carpfeed that he arrived at the historic Berkshire venue in mid-afternoon after a three-hour drive and found fish basking in the sun in a small bay. “The bay was particularly weedy and it proved difficult to find some spots,” said Dan. “I eventually settled on areas amid the weed, and with the spots not being the cleanest I decided to present pop-ups on the ever-faithful hinge rig over the top. “After a night of savage liners, I woke with the morning mist kissing the lake and fish rolling not far from the spots.

“My first bite came not long after from a cracking 35lb 10oz mirror. A few hours later came the big girl. After a proper battle through the weed, it rolled over the net and I was amazed at the size of it.

“The rest of the day was quiet, and I reflected on the brilliant morning’s fishing. Following a quiet night, I was up and ready again for the morning bite time.

“Right on cue, the spots burst into life at first light with two more fish landed – one tipped the scales at 38lb 4oz and the other at 31lb 8oz.

“I sat back and looked at the photos and couldn’t quite believe how the session had unfolded.”

Dan’s fish came on Sticky Signature Squid pop-ups fished over 1kg of crushed and whole Krill boilies soaked in Krill liquid.
