LEE KERRY ADDS THE DAIWA CUP TO WORLD PAIRS VICTORY

-

AS SO often happens in the World Pairs, the overall champions supply the winner of the Daiwa Cup, an individual event running alongside the pairs with a £1,000 top prize and handsome backing in tackle vouchers from Daiwa.

This year’s champ was Lee Kerry, who bagged 114-020 over the five days.

The Preston Innovationsbacked England Feeder man pocketed the grand and £1,500 of tackle vouchers, ending the week well in front of fellow Preston Innovations rod Michael Buchwalder, who put together 96-740 to pick up £750 and £1,000 in vouchers, Andy Leathers took third on 90-340.

Day one saw Lee off to the Connolly’s Shore section of Garradice, and he got off to a strong start, weighing in 20-750 of skimmers and hybrids on window feeder and maggots. Window feeder and worm on day two produced 26230 of mainly big hybrids from Lough Erne’s Horse Island.

The weights kept on coming for Wednesday’s visit to Lough Scur as he drew the peg that Phil Ringer won off the day before. Lee bagged 23-800 of mainly skimmers on cage feeder and worm and then took his best weight of the week, 26-800 of hybrids on window feeder, on Thursday from Greeny’s Shore.

That left Friday’s potentially tricky rotation, but end peg 13 at Brackley was reckoned to be a good one and he took 16-440 of hybrids and roach, netting a half on the feeder and half on the pole at 14m with maggot.

That was the only time during the week when the pole came out of the bag! Daiwa Cup result:
