Spotlight on Ladywood Lakes plus top day-ticket waters to fish now

-

IF YOU’RE looking for some top quality day-ticket carp fishing, Ladywood Lakes is the place to head to. The big lake has been in consistent form this season, where many 20lb fish have been caught, including a lake-record fish at a stunning 43lb 12oz.

This lake has a good average depth, meaning most areas will produce at different times of the season. Pellet and boilie fishing is popular, and some of the most successful tactics are fishing a snowman rig or a white boilie on a stiff hinge rig over a bed of pellets and corn. Zig rigs can also work well if it’s sunny and there’s high pressure.

In addition to the carp there is also some fantastic predator fishing in the big lake, where perch to over 4lb can be caught on lobworms and pike to over 20lb can be targeted with sea deadbaits. Fishing for these species is allowed between November 1 and March 1.

The small lake at Ladywood contains hundreds of carp between 8lb and 28lb, and these can be targeted on a variety of tactics.

In warm weather feed heavily with parti-mix and groundbaits and fish 10mm-12mm boilies or pop-ups over the top. In winter 12ft-14ft zig rigs can work well in this deep lake, where feeding with a cloudy spod mix can stir fish into feeding.

This lake also offers excellent roach fishing, and anglers using maggots and casters can catch fish all day on the pole, waggler or feeder.
