BLACK SPOT AND THE FAT ITALIAN OUT AT DEEPINGS ONE

-

FISHING an unfashionable area of the lake gave Justin Carter one of the biggest mirrors in the country – twice!

Black Spot, from Deepings One in Lincolnshire, has previously topped 60lb and was caught by the 44-year-old at 54lb 10oz and 52lb 8oz two weeks apart.

Justin also bagged one of his main target fish, the Fat Italian, at 45lb 4oz during his recent run of good form.

The accountant told Carpfeed: “I caught Black Spot from swims opposite each other, interestingly in a part of the lake that receives very little pressure from anglers – yet the fish show there week in, week out.”

Justin added: “I joined Deepings knowing there were two fish in there that could beat my current personal best of 55lb 8oz, so when I first caught Black Spot at 54lb 10oz I was not one bit disappointed.

“It wasn’t a new pb, but I was more than pleased to have achieved my second different UK fifty.”

A week after his second capture of Black Spot, Justin ticked off another sought-after carp from the other end of the lake.

After a biteless first night, he got two bleeps on his right-hand rod early the next morning, but assumed they were caused by the birdlife.

“I returned to the bivvy and lit my second cigarette of the morning,” he said. “I was halfway through it when the right-hand rod was off again, this time giving a few more bleeps.

“I didn’t rush out, as I half expected another coot to pop back up on the spot, but as I got nearer to the rod I could see the rod-tip bent round and it was obvious a carp was attached.

“I lifted the rod and a good solid weight was attached. The fight lasted about 10 minutes of slow plodding up and down in front of me.”

All Justin’s fish fell to 15mm Mainline Cell bottom baits with matching toppers presented on multi rigs made with PB Products components. He loosefed hemp and 10mm boilies.
