Maver Festival

Result from White Acres

-

THE first of the two big autumn festivals at White Acres – the Maver – went right down to the wire.

With three anglers finishing on a perfect 36 points after dropping their worst score, Maver man Dale Shepherd was crowned the eventual champion.

Scoring an immaculate five section wins across the week, Dale relegated Phil Canning into second as he counted a second in section as his dropper. Nathan Watson had a third in section as his worst score to take third.

In a match fished by 180 anglers across Pollawyn, Trewaters, Twin Oaks, Jenny’s, Trelawney and Bolingey Lakes and Porth Reservoir, Dale was in fine form.

He kicked off with a section and lake win from peg 29 on Twin Oaks with 137-10-0 of carp and F1s on pellet feeder and worm on the pole.

Porth was next up for the Yorkshire angler, where he worked hard for 13-0-0 of roach and a few skimmers on pole and feeder from peg 16 to earn another nine points.

Bolingey awaited on Wednesday and Dale kept his foot on the gas, bagging 209-8-0 of carp on pellet short and down the edge of peg 33 to secure the section win and second on the lake. Thursday saw him off to Pollawyn and peg 34, a tough day that gave Dale 46-4-0 of carp and skimmers on pole and feeder tactics to score another nine points. That left the split section on Jenny’s and Trewaters for Friday, and he bagged the section win with 66-9-0.

Result: 1 D Shepherd, Maver, 36pts (dropping nine points); 2 P Canning, Frenzee, 36 (dropping eight points); 3 N Watson, Louth, 36 (dropping seven points); 4 K Baxter, Sheffield, 35 (dropping seven points – 433-10-0); 5 A Power, Preston Innovations, 35 (dropping seven points – 397-3-0); 6 T Edwards, Frenzee/Dynamite Baits, 35 (dropping five points).
