Packington still hot for big weights

-

FISHING at many commercial venues has started to tail off as temperatures drop, but weights at Packington have remained excellent.

Recent matches at the complex have seen 50lb-100lb catches, mainly taken by those fishing natural baits.

Molands fished very well through the week, with nets to over 100lb coming to pole fished maggot and pellet.

As high pressure dominated the weather at the weekend, the lake’s F1s shut up shop. The better catches were made up of carp or silver fish which came to pinkies, bomb and pellet or maggot fished close in on the pole.

Over on Geary’s, carp to 18lb featured in catches. Match weights to around 50lb have shown, but pleasure anglers have fared much better – particularly those fishing until dark, when the fish were more obliging. Bomb and pellet, Method feeder and pellet feeder tactics have all caught well, and silver fish nets were coming to maggot or caster on the pole.

There was an issue with a dip in oxygen on Little Geary’s, but once the aerators were turned on sport returned in spades.

By the weekend anglers were sacking up with 60lb nets of F1s all around the pool to pole fished maggot, caster or pellet. PRICES: Adults £6, concessions £4.50 CONTACT: 01676 522020 LOCATION: Packington Hall, Meriden, Warwickshire, CV7 7HF
