WHAT a week it’s been for fishing – we’ve had so many specimen fish pictures sent in over the past seven days we’ve had to add extra space to get them all in!

I can’t remember an autumn like it, with reports of huge barbel – including river records – massive roach in almost ridiculously large catches, plus huge chub, pike, and big nets of specimen perch.

It would seem that sport has really switched on as the first frosts have arrived. Our favourite species have certainly gone on a bit of a feeding spell as they gear up for the colder weather.

That’s great news for us anglers, and to help you take advantage we’ve not only got all the vital tactical info from the anglers behind the big hits, but we’re also passing on some great advice from our unrivalled team of weekly experts.

Inside you’ll find tips for catching chub on the rivers, natural bait tricks for big perch, and the ultimate feeder rig for specimen roach.

If stillwaters are your target in the next couple of weeks then Steve Ringer’s 10 steps to success are a must-read.

I’d like to take this opportunity to point you towards the launch of the National Angling Awards 2018, where all our readers will have the opportunity to name their champions of the year gone by (see P8&9).

There are over 30 categories, including several new awards, covering the best anglers, venues, catches, TV shows and tackle launches you think deserve to be rewarded.

The polls are open and you could win a tackle voucher too – it’s time to get voting!
