Head for Hayfield for top action
HAYFIELD Lakes is one of the nation’s premier commercial fisheries and is a venue offering angling of the highest quality. Home to the Maver Match This and Fish O’Mania finals, Hayfield has a fantastic reputation for bumper bags of fish.
Now that the temperatures have dropped the sport isn’t as hectic as it was at the height of summer, but with a slightly more considered approach it’s possible to still have a busy day’s fishing.
Adam’s Lake is well known for producing great catches all year round, and a variety of tactics score well here. The long pole fished around 14m out is a reliable tactic for a few bites, and regularly loose feeding a few hard 6mm pellets with a pole pot or catapult should get the fish grubbing around.
Try an expander on the hook, although a hard pellet can be more effective if you’re being pestered by small fish. If the fish Tommy Pickering with a fine catch of Hayfield carp. begin to back off the pole line, a bomb and pellet approach can work well. Feed 8mm pellets and try a variety of hookbaits including hi-vis offerings that can catch a cruising fish’s eye.
If you enjoy Method feeder fishing then Danny’s Island Lake is the place to head to, where a cast to the island will put you in touch with fish to double figures
At this time of year micro pellets are best on the feeder, and a variety of hookbaits including maggots, pellets, corn and boilies can work. While fishing this line it is also worth feeding a short pole swim with pellets throughout the day to drop on to later in the session where you have the chance of
picking up some big bonus fish. PRICE: £6.50 day tickets, £130 annual membership CONTACT: 01302 864 555, 07484 918414 or visit www. hayfieldlakesfishery.co.uk
