STEAK BAGS JOHN’S 7lb 3oz CHUB BEST ON WITHAM
A SINGLE piece of stewing steak was the key feature in the capture of this stunning 7lb 3oz chub from the River Witham.
It was banked by 73-year-old angler John Shucksmith from a stretch of the upper river above Lincoln. John also fed minced meat into the swim to help whet the appetite of the monster chevin.
His meat-based tactics proved to be a winning move as, just minutes after casting out, John was rewarded with his new personal best for the species.
John’s successful set-up included a 1.25lb test curve John Wilson Avon rod coupled with a Shimano 5010 reel loaded with 8lb line.
