MASTERFUL MARK IS REDMIRE SAVIOUR
IF I wanted a big-carp fishery done right, I’d call Mark Walsingham. I’ve never fished his Ashmead Pool and am extremely unlikely to, but I’ve spoken to a few anglers who have. Their usual comment is along the lines of ‘carp fishing how it should be.”
The work that’s taken place at Redmire, revaled in last week’s issue, should restore this most famous and mythical of carp fisheries to a situation not unlike the days of Walker, Hilton et al and subsequently Chris Yates.
It’s not going to be easy, but it will be more like worshipping at the shrine of carp fishing rather than playing Ghostbusters with fish that belong in a koi pond.
Tight Lines to all those anglers who have already fully booked the place for 2019, once it opens in June.
