RAISE YOUR GLASSES TO EDDIE!

WEST London angler Eddie Edwards has played an important role in club fishing in those parts, and recently he’s become hooked on lure fishing.

He’s just organised a friendly lure competition, in aid of the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, linking different clubs, their members and guests on several sections of the Grand Union Canal.

It was an amazing success, raising £900 for the charity and spectacularly exceeding the £500 target sum. Romanian angler Adrian Stangun took first place in the measure-and-release match with a 38cm pike and a 20cm perch.

The old ‘locals’, bearing in mind the Romanian and Polish anglers taking part live just as close, warmed to their new friends, especially as the Romanian anglers laid out a huge table of their delicacies – including a warming tot or two of their equally local home-made ‘hooch’.
