Clear-conscience carp
IN REPLY to the letter ‘Double Standards When It Comes To Supermarket Carp’ (January 15 issue) it’s obvious to me that these are farmed carp, bred specifically for the supermarket shelf.
Why not complain about the salmon or trout lying next to them on the fish counter?
The fact is, they are all farm-bred for the table. No-one has gone down to the local lake and caught them and sold them to Tesco.
It’s no good ranting at the poor assistant – my wife had to explain to one young man on the tills in the same supermarket that it was leeks she was buying. He did not know what a leek was. David Bland, Potter Heigham
