“ThIS is very different to the dobbing set-up and uses a lighter 4x12 Malman Dusty float with a much thinner bristle that I dot right down to a speck.

“Bites from F1s, especially, can hardly move the float and if you leave too much on show, you’ll not see most of the bites.

“In winter the fish don’t pick a bait up and move off with it – I firmly believe that they sit and mouth the maggots, which shows up as just a shudder on the bristle at times. Lines are 0.15mm to an 0.11m hooklink with a size 16 Guru F1 maggot and doubled No5 elastic. The rig is plumbed up to fish at dead depth to show up those tiny movements on the bristle.”
