Bid for a chance to fish renovated Redmire in opening week

-

AN auction is currently being held for the chance to fish the iconic Redmire Pool during the opening week of the 2019 season.

All other slots for this year have been snapped up, so this is the only remaining 2019 window at the newly renovated water. The winning bidder will have exclusive use of the pool for a full week from June 16, when a maximum of five anglers will be allowed to fish.

Les Bamford, who runs the fishing at Redmire, told Carpfeed: “This will be the first time anglers will have been on the water since all the work was carried out – it will be the start of a new dawn. It’s a full seven nights’ fishing, from midnight on June 16, but the winner would also be welcome to arrive a day or two earlier to soak up the surroundings and put a bit of bait in.”

As we reported last week, Redmire has been extensively renovated, with the removal of more than 5,000 tonnes of silt. All ghost carp have been removed, leaving just 50 Leney-descendant carp to thrive in what is now a much deeper home.

Bids for opening week currently start at the reserve price of £2,000. Bids go up in £100 increments, and should be submitted to Les by texting him on 07723 300927.

Bidding ends on February 24.
