EVER TRIED USING A FISHFINDER?

-

LAST year I managed to get hold of a Deeper Pro Plus fishfinder and I spent a bit of time having a play around on some of my local lakes throughout the winter months.

Perhaps the biggest thing it showed me during use is that 90 per cent of the fish in a lake are quite often in a very small area, with large areas remaining totally devoid of any life.

It definitely seems to be a case of ‘safety in numbers’ as far as fish in the cold are concerned, because once you find one fish you tend to find a stack!

Depth is also worth mentioning, as it’s rare that I find fish on the bottom. In fact, on occasion, despite freezing cold weather, I have found the fish 4ft down in 12ft of water.

This backs up what I have said about just how important fish location is.

The other interesting thing is how fish hug drops-offs or any underwater features, confirming how they like structure no matter how small it is, and why you’ve got to target areas of the swim where there are depth deviations.
