Use light leg er rigs

-

3 Now is a great time to quivertip on a river with an SSG shot link leger for perch and chub.

A light lead means a biting fish is less likely to drop your bait and gives you more time to strike.

My stealthy rig consists of a leger bead threaded on to the mainline, followed by two float stops, and a large hook such as a Korum Power size 8 or 6 tied on with a five-turn grinner knot, and ideal for crust or worm baits.

The weight is an SSG or AAA shot attached to a doubled-over loop of line threaded through the small hole in the leger bead.

It’s adjustable, although I use two float stops to prevent the weights from sliding down to the hook, they can be moved by hand to vary the length of the hooklink.

If the rig gets snagged then the shot can easily slide off the short link, leaving the mainline free.
