STILLWATERS
Field Farm Fisheries, Wrentham, Suffolk
Several small pools are on offer at this fishery close to the coast, and big roach can be caught from the House Pool on maggot and caster along with carp on pellets and corn. Try the Three Islands Pond for carp, rudd and some colourful goldfish, with maggots, small pellets and paste all good hookbait options. The margins are where most anglers are sacking up at the moment. Contact: 01502 675273 Postcode: NR34 7HP
Moorlands Farm, Hartlebury, Worcestershire
This is one of the older commercial fisheries in the UK, and still a winner. Carp are the main target on the big Meadow Pool, where shallow tactics on pole or waggler and in the margins with big baits are catching well. Maggots and casters will guarantee action from silver fish all day long. Anglers should get on Silver Pool for plenty of small F1s on pellets fished just a few metres out. Portland Waters, Sibthorpe, Notts
Tucked away in the quiet Notts countryside, this impressive complex offers great facilities and a range of lakes, from narrow snake waters to big open water pools. The Old Wood Lake holds big carp and is popular with those who are after a specimen or two, while pole anglers can get stuck into the Canal and Four Islands Lakes where pellet remains the
top bait for carp and barbel. On Kingfisher, anglers are currently sacking up on carp and mixed silvers by fishing the pole tight over to the far bank with maggots. Contact: 07967 144818 Postcode: NG23 5PN
SPRINGSIDE LAKE, INGOLDISTHORPE, NORFOLK
Controlled by King’s Lynn AA but fishable on a day ticket, this lake is just a few miles from Hunstanton and is packed with fish. The wider end near the entrance offers more water to fish to, but the narrower end is shaded by overhanging trees for great carp sport. Pole or waggler using corn and pellets will catch the carp and tench, while maggots are good for plenty of bites from roach, skimmers and perch.
