Syndicate Lake is fishing well for carp in the 5lb-10lb bracket. Most fish fall to pellets shallow or on the deck in bags to 100lb. When conditions suit, the pellet waggler can be a devastating tactic. Feed a mixture of 6mm and 8mm pellets and then cast a banded 8mm over the top. Later, switch to a bomb and pellet. Bream are feeding hard, with 50lb bags of slabs possible in a five-hour session. These fall to feeder and pole tactics, the main key to success being a groundbait that can hold the fish in the peg. Worms, maggots, casters and corn are all good hookbaits for the bream and will also take bonus roach and perch. Carp anglers are taking double-figure to surface tactics in the warmer weather. pondwood fisheries, maidenhead, Berkshire

Big weights of F1s are being caught from the Woodland Lake. Bag weights have been consistently over 60lb, with winning match weights smashing the tonne. The fish have been coming out to maggots fished over groundbait. For good weights of larger carp Lake 2 is worth trying on waggler or bomb tactics. Specimen hunters should head for Island Lake’s catfish to 50lb. Contact: 01189 345299 Postcode: SL6 3SS

argal reservoir, penryn, cornwall

Big carp are showing well on this large water at the moment. Commons and mirrors of 30lb-plus have been caught in the past month by anglers fishing over large spreads of boilies with snowman rigs. Location is paramount on this venue, so spend time looking around the banks before you decide on where to fish. The reservoir also holds a good head of quality roach, as well as some huge bream running to 15lb. The feeder with worms and maggots is the best approach for these.
