Canals aren’t renowned for big roach, but Tim Worsnop showed there are some hidden giants when he included a beast in his winning 13-4-0 netful. The Matrix Halifax man drew peg 2 at Battyford Basin and used chopped worm and caster at 13m for small roach and perch before the huge 2lb 8oz bonus redfin showed up.
Martin Blagbrough was next-best with 12-4-0 of caster caught roach.

Peg 6 on Spey produced the runner-up in Mick Bown, who landed 56-10-0.

He used caster hookbait over hemp from the end peg at the football field and found roach and skimmers that contributed to his 7-4-0.
