NORTH MET ORIGINAL OUT AT 42lb

-

A LONG campaign to bank one of the old originals from North Met Pit in the Lea Valley came to a successful end for Dave Cornes when he landed a 42lb 8oz mirror.

After finding a promising spot on his previous session at the 60-acre Herts stillwater, Dave (41) baited it up before he left and then returned for a quick overnighter 48 hours later.

He hit the jackpot during the early hours, but not before he had done battle with more of the lake’s residents, as he explained: “The crayfish were on full song, terrorising my baits, so baiting up regularly was essential. The fish came five minutes after putting another 1kg over the two rods”
