READERS’ RECOMMENDED VENUES
COKING FARM FISHERY, GILLINGHAM, DORSET
DURING a trip to Coking Farm young Harry Philips proved that there are a few carp to be caught from the fishery’s Rush Lake, banking this 8lb 13oz mirror.
Rush is the venue’s primary pleasure lake with excellent stocks of carp, bream, tench and mixed silver fish present – meaning a proper mixed bag is on the cards.
Harry waggler fished an Elips pellet to catch his carp, although casting a feeder tight to the island with a banded pellet on the hook is also very effective. Maggots fished on the pole and on the deck will do well for a bag of roach and bream. Contact: 07759090881 or 07789003044

ORCHETON HOUSE FARM FISHERY, PRESTON, LANCS
At around two acres, the pool at
Orcherton isn’t the largest in the country, but it packs some punch with 50lb-plus mixed nets of carp and silvers showing to pleasure anglers week-in, week-out.
Wigan angler Ben Cottrill took a stunning ghost carp during a recent session by fishing 8.5m of pole tight to the margins with a 6mm banded pellet.
