Bream catches on pole and feeder dominated this one, with Quorn’s Soar expert Nick West coming out on top with an impressive 16-850.

No too far behind was Chris Marks, son of the late legend Ivan, with another mainly bream haul going 15-500.

Canal fishing supremo Jason Cunningham showed off his skills as he bagged top place with 6-9-0. The Cadence Superteam Bait-Tech man was kept busy all day as he caught small silvers consistent­ly on squatt and pinkie.

Andy Curless came second with 4-12-4 and Browning Central were the best team on the day with a tally of 24 points. The silver fish felt the need for a feed and Dave Brooks needed a highly impressive 52-14-0 to come out on top.

Using pole and maggot, the Drennan Barnsley angler caught quality skimmers and roach for most of the day.

The big carp that the complex is famous for had a munch, a nd Phil Canning benefited to take the match out with 131-0-0. Drawn on peg 15 of the Specimen

Lake, the Frenzee man fished the Method feeder 40 yards out with wafter hookbaits for fish well into double figures.

Paul Cook took second but, more importantl­y, won his zone to qualify for the final. He was on peg 62 of Match Lake and fished the Method for 102-10-0.

Steve Ford drew a peg with little form, but he showed his class to turn it into a winning swim.

The Bag’Em Matchbaits and Mosella angler was on peg 19 of Boundary Pool and rotated between the long pole, bomb and meat and the margins for 100-6-0, which included a huge 18lb carp.

The standard commercial feeder rigs were shunned by Eddie Keene as he won with 62-15-0. There was no room for the Method or pellet feeder for the COVPAC angler, who instead used a maggot

feeder from peg 15 on Little Gearys for F1s to 3lb. Derek Hartshorn came second with 51-14-0 from peg 2 on Molands Mere.

Long pole tactics worked a treat for Steve Brelsforth as he topped the field with

92-8-0. Fishing at 13m with pellet and maggot, the King’s Norton man caught carp to 6lb steadily from peg 59 on Abbey.

Little Gearys was the place to be on the day and Ray Quinney made no mistake after he

drew on it. Fishing maggot on the pole at 13m from peg 27, the local rod put 70-1-0 of F1s in his nets.

John Batey went down the pellet feeder route from peg 21 and took second with 55-0-0.

Nick Bryan put in a sterling performanc­e to win the event with 66-1-0. Corn just 3m out did the trick, with F1s and carp coming to the net from peg 15 on Jennys.

Peg 21 on the same lake produced the runner-up, with Billy Eade catching 63-13-0 on pellet in the edge and at 6m.
