man Andy Powell was first after he put together 20-11-0 which was made up of three quality bream and hybrids from his peg next to the swing bridge at the caravan park.

Kevin Rowles came agonisingl­y close to winning but fell just short on 20-8-0 from the next peg.

At this early stage Garbolino BV are leading the league.

Paddy McMahon’s tip kept whacking round, and come the all-out he had landed 127-5-0. The local lad used the feeder to

find plenty of carp and bream, with Paul Spiller sliding into second with 98-5-0. Result: 1 P McMahon, 127-5-0; 2 P Spiller, 98-5-0; 3 S Tyler, 80-13-0; 4 J Light, 77-8-0; 5 J Blavins, 72-2-0; 6 S George, 69-6-0.

Pines Lake (18 pegs)

Those drawn in the middle of the lake enjoyed some cracking sport, with Andrew Rayment’s 154-0-0 netful faring best. Drawn on peg 5, he used pole and pellet

for carp to 8lb and a few silvers. Sean Wain was second from peg 17 with 145-0-0.

River Thames, Medley to Donnington (48 pegs)

The river was dropping fast after being in near-flood conditions midweek, and it was bream that decided the result. Darren Wright drew on a hungry shoal sat in the middle of Perch Bay at Medley and there he used the pole feeder with a lobworm hookbait for 41-0-0 of them.

Second-placed Stuart Harrop was a little way behind that but still recorded 27-6-0 on similar tactics.

Rive A4 were the day’s top team, notching up a 42-point score.

BAIT-TECH VIADUCT FISHERY (THURS) Campbell & Cary Lakes (36 pegs) Rod-and-line tactics helped Brendan Curry win the contest with 128-6-0.

The Tip Top Tackle angler was sat on peg 112 of Campbell Lake and caught carp to double figures on bomb and pellet. Matt Payne used similar tactics for most of the match from peg 123 on the same lake but also added a few lumps down the edge. Result: 1 B Curry, Tip Top Tackle, 128-6-0;

2 M Payne, Viaduct, 124-0-0; 3 M Rowe, Poole, 118-14-0; 4 J Mills, Ridgemere AC, 111-1-0;

BAIT-TECH VIADUCT FISHERY (SAT) Campbell Lake (16 pegs)

Mark Wynne used his encyclopae­dic knowledge of the venue to great effect to scoop the win with 192-5-0. The Sensas man drew red-hot peg 112 and fished the pole, bomb and waggler for fish to 12lb.

Henry Smith was on peg 118 and took second spot with 150-9-0.

BIG ONE/ PEG NO1 AUTUMN LEAGUE (RND 2) (SUN) Royal Berkshire Fishery (28 pegs)

Geoff Edwards bagged top points in the league thanks to a winning 72-0-0. Drawn on peg 61, he used pellets both short and long for most of the match before turning to meat in the margins in the dying stages.

Second overall, and winning Lake Two from peg 39, was Mark Goddard. He caught 65-8-0 on maggots in the edge.

GILLINGHAM AA WINTER LEAGUE (RND 1) (SUN) River Stour, Deepwater to Rectory Straight (19 pegs)

There was just one double-figure netful taken on the day and that accolade went to John Candy.

He drew peg 8 at Deepwater and used a crow quill float with hemp and maggots to place 10-4-0 of roach in his net. Jamp Stamp was second on the day with 7-9-0 from peg 4 in the same area. Result: 1 J Candy, 10-4-0; 2 J Stamp, 7-9-0;

3 R Fripp, 6-12-0; 4 R Kiernan, 6-9-0; 5 A West, 5-15-0; 6 P Edwards, 5-3-0.

GOLD VALLEY LAKES (SAT) Syndicate Lake (18 pegs)

There were a couple of anglers in the race for the glory come the final whistle but

Dave Lewis just about edged it.

The Drennan Bordon man used the bomb and feeder from peg 119 from 105-0-0 of big carp.

Ashley Blunt was just one lump behind on 95-8-0.

OAKFIELD FISHERY (WEDS) Red Kite Lake (14 pegs)

Mal Talbot showed his rivals how it was done as he came out on top with 110-14-0. The Kamasan GOT Baits angler relied on various pole lines with pellet and maggot for carp and big F1s.

The fish didn’t really want to know on the day but Dave Wilson managed to tempt a few bites and finish with 59-1-0 in his nets. He worked with pellet and maggot mainly on the pole for a mixture of carp and F1s.
