THE SUPERCUP

2020 Britain’s biggest angling club competition

-

CALLING all club anglers! The long wait is finally over – the Angling Times/Bait-Tech Clubman Supercup 2020 first round draw is done and dusted and now each side will know who stands in their way in the opening round.

Reigning champs Fitters AC are there, as are three of their fellow Midlands teams who fished last year’s final.

“It barely seems 12 months ago since we were drawing out round one for 2019, but time flies and I’m pleased to see so many teams back for this year’s event,” says Angling Times match editor Richard Grange.

“Tackle shops tell me all about the buzz that this event creates among their customers, which was the whole point of launching Supercup in the first place – to get local anglers fishing against each other.

“Thanks must go once again to Bait-Tech for its continued support of the event. Talking to teams at the Semi Finals each year, I know just how important the Supercup is to them and how much they look forward to competing.”

HOW DOES IT WORK?

All round one ties will see teams fishing against other clubs relatively local to them although in some cases owing to small numbers of teams in a large geographical area, some travelling may be involved. The home team will have the choice of venue for the first-round match but everything else must be agreed by all parties concerned.

WHEN DOES ROUND 1 HAVE TO BE FISHED? The match dates for all first-round ties to be fished is the weekend of Saturday April 25 and Sunday April 26. Each home-drawn side will receive a Clubman report card in the post shortly for them to send in the result to Angling Times for publication, along with contact details for the opposition teams. Please contact your opponents as soon as possible to allow the maximum amount of practice time. An extension to the fishing dates can ONLY be granted in the case of severe weather cancelling the original tie.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

If you’re a home-drawn team, you will receive a letter from Angling Times giving contact details of your opponent(s). You will then be expected to contact each team and start arranging the details of your match as soon as possible. If you are an away team, sit tight and await that phone call.
