ANGLING EDUCATION FOR KIDS

-

FROM tidying tackle to virtual fishing matches, anglers across the country have found inventive ways to keep themselves entertained – but what about the kids?

Stuck inside, the young anglers of Britain will be missing their fishing. That’s what Zenia Drury-Gregorek from Devon’s Anglers Paradise fishery was thinking when she decided to teach kids about fishing from the safety of their homes.

Called Fishing Fun with Zen, the lessons are live every Friday on her Facebook page called Zenia’s Fishing Adventures, and are free to view. Zenia, who has been entertaining her fishing-mad sons, Zaine (nine) and Zeejay (six) is full of ideas.

“So far, we’ve done a range of lessons,” she reveals, “from making breadpaste to creating a Fishy Facts poster.”

If you’ve got any young anglers in your family, make sure they tune in at 3pm this Friday.

1. Angling to be undertaken on a solitary basis – social distancing must be maintained

2. Local fishing only – anglers must follow current Government guidance on travel for the benefit of recreational activity

3. All freshwater anglers must have relevant EA licence

4. Sea angling from beach and shore to resume, along with small-scale private boat fishing

5. No sharing of fishing tackle or any other items

6. No sharing of swims except by members of the same household 7. No angler to fish within 15m of any other angler

8. No keepnets or competition fishing

9. Online and electronic day-ticket payments to be made where possible

10. Onsite shared facilities such as cafés and clubhouses to remain closed

11. Fisheries unable to adhere to these guidelines should remain closed until further notice
