FISH WORM HEADS
DEREK FILLARD, WYMONDHAM, NORFOLK
“ON my local Norfolk rivers, casters are the best bait by a mile, but they can get smashed off the hook by little roach. A tip I picked up from match anglers on the Yare and Bure was to use a small piece of worm on the hook instead. They reckoned it looked just like a caster to the fish and wouldn’t come off the hook so easily. You could catch half-a-dozen fish on the same bait too. I’ve taken lots of roach this way, big ones at that, but I would say it works best when you are catching quickly. It’s something to try later in the day when the roach are there in numbers!”
