DORSET STOUR, THROOP, DORSET

One of the most famous stretches of river in the country, Throop is a place that any river angler should try and visit.

What’s been out? Beat Two has seen double-figure barbel, and chub to over 6lb, while in the Mill Pool good catches of bream and tench are on offer.

Tactics to use: If conditions allow, trotting maggots with plenty of feed is a great way to catch the chub, but pellets fished on a light leger set-up with regular feed can also be very effective. In the Mill Pool, waggler tactics are a good option.
