SUPERCUP 2021 First round draw revealed

Round one draw made, with Nathan’s looking to defend title

-

THE long wait is finally over and the Angling Times/BaitTech Clubman Supercup 2021 first round draw has been made.

This week each and every team will know who in the opening round stands in their way of a tilt at the trophy.

Reigning champs Nathan’s of Nottingham are there, as are three of their fellow Midlands teams who fished last year’s final. Elsewhere in the country there are plenty of familiar names, plus a few newcomers.

“It barely seems 12 months ago since we were drawing out round one for 2020, but time flies and I’m pleased to see so many teams back for this year’s event,” said Supercup organiser Richard Grange.

“Thanks must go once again to Bait-Tech for its continued support of the event. “Talking to teams at the semis each year, I know just how important the Supercup is to them and how much they look forward to it.

“Another name must go on the trophy at the big final in September – whoever your team has drawn, good luck. It might just be you!”

All round one ties will see teams fishing against other clubs relatively local to them although in some cases, owing to small numbers of teams in a large geographical area, some travelling may be involved. The home team will have the choice of venue for the firstround match but everything else must be agreed by all parties concerned.

Ideally, the match dates for all first-round ties to be fished on is the weekend of Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25.

However, with Covid restrictions, it may be necessary to postpone this weekend and move the match dates further back into the year.

Therefore, in 2021 we will permit teams to arrange their match at a date to suit all parties and to work around restrictions. The only thing we would ask is for matches to have been fished by the weekend of June 19 and 20 to ensure enough time for semifinal practice.

Each home-drawn side will receive a Clubman report card in the post shortly for them to send in the result to Angling Times for publication, along with contact details for the team or teams they are drawn against. Please contact your opponents as soon as possible to allow the maximum amount of practice time!

If you’re a home-drawn team you will shortly receive a letter in the post from Angling Times giving contact details of your opponent or opponents.

You will then be expected to contact each team and start arranging the details of your match as soon as possible.

If you are an away team, sit tight and await that phone call.
