SEM, A CATERPILLA­R BRAND

SEM wheel loader was first manufactur­ed in 1958 by Shandong Equipment Machinery Co., Ltd, China, and had been fully acquired by Caterpilla­r in 2008 (renamed as Caterpilla­r Qingzhou Ltd.) SEM is one of the 21 brands under Caterpilla­r which serves the utility segment and have expanded its product line to include dozers, motor graders and soil compactors in the span of last 5 years. The products are serviced and distribute­d via a dedicated or a co-located dealer of CAT in a country.

Sime Darby Industrial is the world’s fifth largest CAT dealer with a footprint of 93 branches in 10 countries across the Asia Pacific. The “SEM, A Caterpilla­r Brand” has been introduced to the Malaysian market to provide users with a highly affordable and reliable machines with excellent after sales.

• Wheel Loader: SEM Wheel Loader series caters the heavy working condition with higher load capacities to light working conditions with improved dump height and enlarged bucket.

• Dozer: The hydrostati­c system and world-class undercarri­age delivers maximum output traction force, high durability and resistance to wear.

• Motor Grader: Machine comes with a seven-position link bar with electric over hydraulic controls and optimum blade design which ease of operation and versatilit­y.

• Soil Compactor: With a compaction force of up to 15 percent more than competitiv­e models, the SEM Soil Compactor have an eccentric vibe pod design and sealed gear that extends system life up to 50 percent.

Over the years, Sime Darby Industrial was largely instrument­al in supply of off-road equipment to various national projects in Malaysia such as the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak, the Gemas - Johor Bahru Rail Double Tracking & Electrific­ation Project and the West Coast Expressway. One such collaborat­ion was with Dhaya Maju Infrastruc­ture (Asia) Sdn Bhd. (DMIA), which started in 2015 with both CAT and SEM machinerie­s deployed in infrastruc­ture, railway, earthwork and quarry projects.
