Youngsters praised for helping to find lost cat

TWO Ardrossan youngsters have been hailed for their heroic efforts to help a person in need.

Amy Barbour said both Carter McGreavy and Blake Innes were “an absolute credit” after they offered assistance to trace her missing cat, Tobey, on Tuesday, April 9.

Amy bumped into the nine-yearold pair who were walking a dog and asked if either of them had seen her pet, who typically stays indoors though had found their way outside.

Amy explained: “They said they hadn’t but they would have a look.

“I told them my address and said if you find him, could you please let me know, but if not it’s okay and not to worry.”

Remarkably, Stanley Primary pupil Carter and Winton Primary kid Blake came to Amy’s door two hours later to inform her they had not been able to find Tobey.

Thankfully for Amy her feline friend had found their own way home.

She commented: “I told them he was back and gave them a tenner

to thank them for their time and effort - they seemed so excited and appreciative.”

Most would expect Carter and Blake to then head off with their reward and by some treats to enjoy - particularly given it is the school Easter holidays.

And while they did head off the pair would return to Amy’s door 20 minutes later having used some of the money to purchase treats for Tobey.

Amy commented: “Young people here get so much bad reputation, but those two boys couldn’t have been more helpful, thoughtful,

or selfless. They didn’t expect anything back from me for helping but still looked for two hours, and they didn’t need to come back with anything for my cat. They just did it out of kindness.”

Amy was not initially aware of who the two young men who offered their help were and was later able to thank the pair, via their mothers, using social media.

Many others used the platform to congratulate the young men on their polite and thoughtful manner.

Tobey also looked very grateful for his surprise treats.
