Youngsters on song
MID ARGYLL Youth Chorus showed off its talent at a recent variety show.
The youngsters sang, acted and danced their way through the event at Ardrishaig Public Hall.
IT’S NOT often you hear the Mamas and the Papas’ classic song California Dreamin’ followed by Uptown
Funk - but that’s what was on offer at Mid Argyll Youth Chorus’ variety show.
The multi-talented young folk sang, danced and acted to the delight of the audience at Ardrishaig Public Hall on June 14.
Comperes Alistair Cupples and Holly Renton kept the evening moving between acts and found time to perform themselves. Members of the drama group had their family and friends laughing out loud during a sketch in each half.
As well as performing as part of the chorus, a number of singers performed solo.
Contrasting
Eve Maxwell perfectly captured the essence of her two contrasting songs, the joyful I Could Have Danced All Night from My Fair Lady, and the despair of L’ho Perduta from
the Marriage of Figaro. There were guest artists ready and willing to do a turn with Abbie Williams performing songs in both English and Gaelic.
Three members of Lochgilphead Primary School Pipe Band, two drummers and one piper, took to the stage to perform Green Hills
of Tyrol and When the Battle’s over.
The evening ended with a sing-song of The Heavenly Aeroplane by the entire youth chorus.
