Stunt cyclists set to stun at 150th anniversary Kintyre Agricultural Show

-

This year’s Agricultural Show is certain to get hearts racing as a team of stunt cyclists take their lives in their hands in order to entertain.

Organisers of the 150th Kintyre Show decided to push the boat out in honour of the anniversary, and the Clan cycle stunt team are sure to enrapture all who come along to see them.

The thousands of expected visitors are in for a treat when the cyclists get pedalling on August 5.

The Clan team were formed four years ago by Youtube sensation Danny Macaskill, who has since gone on to become one of the most famous cyclists in the world.

Now the talented group he began are coming to Kintyre to show off their equally-scary talents on their custom-built stunt rig.

Clan manager Ruth Asbery said: ‘Expect to see bikes flying over your heads, doing amazingly skilful tricks, big drops, leaping gaps and even riding over each other!

‘It’s great being able to take the talents of the most extreme cyclists in the UK into the community. We especially love the reaction on kids faces when they see what can be done on the bikes.’

Also in light of the historic event, there will be a nostalgic display tent packed full of photographs of previous shows throughout the years. If anyone has any old photos they would like to loan for the display please contact the Secretary.

These will offer farmers a rare chance to look back at years of previous winners.

The tent will also feature displays from four local primary schools. Pupils from Castlehill, Dalintober, Drumlemble and Rhunahaorine have been busy over the last

few months creating artwork, models and photos with a theme of Farming through the years.

Also back by popular demand are the wonderful Beachmore Alpacas who love having their photo taken with visitors to the show.

The show at Anderston Park will feature more than 30 different stands, including local crafters and charities, as well as catering outlets and many agricultural trade stands. There will also be fairground rides to keep the kids entertained.

The mainstay of the show of course is the superb livestock with entries in the Sheep, Beef, Clydesdale and Horse and pony sections up on last year.

Secretary of the Kintyre Agricultural Society John Armour said: ‘Every year we hear the same comment on the show; that it features some of the finest livestock in Scotland.

‘It also has one of the biggest exhibits of dairy cattle in the whole of the country, with more than 100 entries expected this year.’
