Golfers play in memory of former member

A TOURNAMENT in memory of Nicky Ciarella was held recently at Lochgilphead Golf Club.

Nicky was a popular member of the club and fulfilled the role of membership secretary for many years until his death in 2011.

In the lead after round one was Jim Hunter, with Alex MacAulay second and David MacKinnon in third place. Round two was won by Ryan McGlynn, David MacKinnon was second and third was Alex MacAulay.

The overall scores over the two days saw Ryan McGlynn winning the cup with Alex MacAulay runner up and David MacKinnon in third place.

The juniors played for the JMK Quaich, kindly sponsored by JMK Electrics. The winner was Andrew Innis with a nett score of 68, runner up was Murray McDonald with a nett 72 and in third was Kern McKellar with a nett 76.

Enjoyable

The ladies played for the Thistle Brooch, an enjoyable round apart from the last few holes when the rain came pouring down.

The winner was Ele Hunter and runner-up was Margaret MacKinnon. The members have been playing in several open competitions including Dunaverty, Shiskine and Tarbert.

Donna and Ele played in the Ladies Open Greensomes in Shiskine and had great fun. The Shiskine Ladies are trying to arrange to come to the Lochgilphead Ladies Open on Saturday August 20.
