Art on show in exhibition

- By Connor Boyd

A FASCINATING exhibition of art is exhibited in Lochgilphead

LOCHGILPHEAD’S drill hall was transformed into an art and photography gallery on Monday to host an annual exhibition.

This year marks the 49th anniversary of the Mid Argyll Art Society event when artists and photographers from all over the region display and sell their work.

Alison Litster, who has been a member of the society for more than eight years, said: ‘There’s a fantastic variety of art here, from all across Argyll. I take inspiration from the beaches around the area, including Islay.’

This is the second year the art exhibition has run in conjunction with Mid Argyll Camera Club, offering a greater variety and quantity of work to put on show.

Alison, a keen photographer, said: ‘People are clearly liking the amalgamation of the art society and camera club because it has been much more popular and lucrative, so I think it offers a different dimension.’

Bernie Redman, who comes to the event each year to buy artwork, said: ‘The art you purchase here represents where you live, where you come from.

‘These paintings and photographs could be taken from anywhere, but you know it’s Argyll and you can take a piece of Argyll with you wherever you go.’

People have until 2pm on Saturday to get a final glimpse of the display, or to make any last minute purchases.
