Argyll Enterprise Week update...
31 Oct - 04 Nov 2016
One of the partners for Argyll Enterprise Week, Scottish EDGE is a private community interest company that offers funding and support to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses.
CEO Evelyn McDonald said: ‘Scottish EDGE is delighted to be part of Argyll Enterprise Week and join a fantastic group of support organisations dedicated to supporting small businesses in Argyll. ‘We’re hoping to encourage entrepreneurs in Argyll and Bute to find out how they can access the funding on offer from Scottish EDGE and to hear from previous winners.’
Originally run by Scottish Enterprise, Scottish EDGE is a competition aimed at identifying and supporting Scotland’s upand-coming, innovative, highgrowth potential entrepreneurial talent. Businesses have to pitch to a panel of judges and the ones that demonstrate the most potential win a grant or loan to help them deliver their growth plans.
The competition has four categories; the main Scottish EDGE competition, where a business can win up to £100,000 as a 50:50 mix of grant and loans, Young EDGE, the dedicated application route for entrepreneurs age 18 to 30 and Wild Card EDGE aimed at pre-trading companies – up to £10,000 is available in each of these categories. In addition, two prizes of £150,000 or £100,000 are available in the science, technology and engineering category – Higgs EDGE.
The total prize fund is £1.3 million. In addition to the financial awards, all EDGE winners are provided with a package of support from business experts, including a business mentor, to help their business grow.
