MAMA fest is the best

-

HIGHLIGHTS from a great weekend of music from across Argyll.

AN OFFSHOOT of MAMAFest - O MAMA - will be held on October 22 in the Argyll Inn featuring all-original material. Bands will include Dogstar Wanderers, David Fee, Shoosh Kebab and Citizen 9. Not to be missed.

SMALLER, but still perfectly formed, MAMAFest 2016 had the Argyll Inn rocking.

Overcoming unexpected last-minute hurdles, organisers pulled off a full line-up producing fantastic live music from Friday to Sunday. Lots of great music was played by some of the most tal- ented musicians in Argyll. Great fun was had by everyone who went along to the third MAMAFest and event chairwoman Liz Miller said: ‘The musicians were brilliant and the Argyll Inn has been a fantastic venue this year.

‘Every one of the 15 bands played for no fee to support MAMAFest. We managed to raise funds from ticket sales, raffles and donations and all money raised will go towards next year’s event.’

She added: ‘The committee is very grateful to Steesh and Blair from the Argyll Inn, all the wonderful musicians and everyone who attended’

As the MAMAFest committee starts to plan next year’s event, Mrs Miller added: ‘We would like to hear from people who came to last weekend’s event, but also from those who didn’t come along. We need to know why and what we can do to ensure maximum attendance in future. Use the online survey form on our Facebook page or email us with views at info@mamafest.co.uk.

Review

‘A committee meeting will be held in two weeks to review this year and start planning MAMAFest 2017.’

She concluded: ‘Mid Argyll needs this festival and it needs the community of Mid Argyll to keep it going. The committee will do everything in their power to make sure that happens.

‘It has been really pleasing to see how MAMAFest has been a vehicle for so many new acts since the festival began and we hope this continues.’
