Festive lunch

-

THE 2016 Community Gathering Christmas lunch in Lochgilphead was well-attended and hailed a big success.

FRIENDSHIP, laughter and sharing were the order of the day at the Community Gathering Christmas Lunch.

The event, held in the Mid Argyll Youth Development Services Hall, attracted more than 30 people, with another 20 people taking advantage of a special food delivery service on Christmas Day.

Lynda Syed, of Argyll Third Sector Interface and one of the event or SUITED ganisers, said: ‘It was a great atmosphere and I think everyone enjoyed themselves, judging by the fact we overran by more than an hour and still folk didn’t want to leave.’

She continued: ‘We were overwhelmed with the generosity of the local community - both businesses and individuals - who donated money and gifts to support people who found themselves alone at Christmas. There were far too many to mention, but they know who they are and we would like to thank them all.

‘Particular thanks to those who gave their time, both on the day and leading up to the event. You are all stars.’

Everyone at the party was offered a Christmas buffet lunch, and a take away for later. They also received two gifts.

Lynda concluded: ‘This is the third year we have run this event and one thing I have noticed is that the number of people wishing to receive a delivery has gone up.

‘I hope any plans for next year will draw in more folk from the villages, so that no-one in Mid Argyll is alone at Christmas.’
