Argyll impresses at leisure awards

-

WITH a total of 21 nominations across all award categories at the Scottish Outdoor Leisure Awards, those working in the outdoor leisure trade in Argyll made a lasting impression on the industry, with four awards being won by Argyll-based businesses.

Drimsynie Holiday Park made the headlines after winning the best family holi- day park award but not without stiff competition from many other parks, including another three situated in Argyll – Port Ban, Kilberry; Rosneath Castle; and Hunter’s Quay, near Dunoon.

Portavadie marina was nominated for four awards, winning two of them for best selfcatering accommodation and best marina.

Craobh Haven challenged Portavadie for the best marina award and Melfort Village, Loch Lomond Holiday Park and Blairmore Farm contested the best self-catering accommodation award.

Quadmania, near Dunoon, took home the best outdoor adventure experience award, with Kintyre Way just missing out. And, after only opening in October 2015, Ardrishaig’s Yot Spot was in the running for the best newcomer award, losing out to Eden Leisure Village in Cumbernauld.

With the number of festivals in Argyll growing, Mull of Kintyre Music Festival and Tarbert Seafood Festival were both nominees for the best outdoor festival but narrowly missed out on claiming the award.
