Stalwart to be honoured at union AGM before contenders are grilled

-

THE NFU Scotland Argyll and Islands regional board will host its AGM today, Friday January 13, in Tarbert.

During the AGM the Stalwart Award will be presented for the first time.

The award was launched last year in memory of Mull farmers Bert Leitch and Lachlan MacLean – both of whom sadly died in 2015.

Each man was a comTHE mitted supporter of NFU Scotland, contributing hugely to the union’s work locally and nationally over many years.

Contribution

The award will be presented either to an NFUS member who has followed in Bert and Lachlan’s footsteps and given their time and effort to the work of the union in Argyll and the Islands region, or to someone who has made a significant contribution to the agriculture in the area.

The AGM will be held at Stonefield Castle, Tarbert, from 11am.

Following the meeting, a hustings event for the contested top roles within NFU Scotland will take place.

Current president Allan Bowie and sitting vice-presidents Rob Livesey and Andrew McCornick will all contest the presidential position.

The two vice-presidential roles will be decided between Forth and Clyde regional chairman Tom French, less favoured areas committee chairman Martin Kennedy and Dumfries and Galloway regional chairman Gary Mitchell.

Don’t miss your chance to grill the men vying for the union hotseats.
