Help MATV to fundraise from the comfort of your own sofa

-

A COMMUNITY patient transport charity is hoping you can help it fundraise from the comfort of your own home as you shop online.

Mid Argyll Transport Volunteers (MATV) have signed up to easyfundraising – an online shopping scheme in which the shop or site you buy from gives a commission for your purchase to easyfundraising, which then turns that into a donation to your chosen charity registered on the easyfundraising site.

MATV is a volunteerled charity that operates a vital hospital transport service for elderly and disabled people within our communities. Transport is also provided for those unable to use public transport to social outings in Mid Argyll, for shopping and for taking people to hospital appointments in Glasgow, Paisley and Oban.

Drivers for MATV use their own cars to transport passengers and receive in return only a small mileage allowance for fuel and wear and tear to their cars.

The transport service was set up in 1994 by a group of ladies from Ardrishaig, when they became aware that some elderly and disabled members of the community, who had no car of their own, were finding it difficult to access suitable transport to visit friends and to keep appointments. Now, 23 years later, MATV is still providing a much-needed service for passengers from all areas of Mid Argyll.
