Tragedy as man’s body found
AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a 66-year-old man was swept to his death in Kilchrenan early last Sunday morning.
It is understood the man, who as been named locally as Dr Ron Thomson, a recently retired Glasgow University lecturer in engineering, was on holiday in the area. He had failed to return to his accommodation and was reported missing by his wife.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the alarm was raised at 3.50am.
Dr Thomson’s body was discovered in a burn, which was in full spate, at around 5.25am following a search by the emergency services.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: ‘Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding his death, which at this time police are not treating as suspicious.
‘A report will be submitted to the PF.’
