Tarbert the place to be for budding musicians

-

THE STREETS of Tarbert were alive once again with the sound of music.

Fèis an Tairbeirt is fast becoming a regular event in the village and is creating a real buzz.

The aim of the fèis is to offer high quality traditional music tuition to all ages. Around 16 adults, a capacity 32 juniors and 14 under sevens were joined by half a dozen teenagers last Saturday afternoon.

The Fèis relies on grants and donations to allow it to offer the wide variety of classes at regular workshops throughout the year. In October last year, the Fèis committee was awarded £1,274 by Awards for All to buy instruments.

In addition, Tarbert Enterprise Company donated £300, which was used to buy an electric keyboard which is made available for use by the whole community.

The remainder of the award went towards new full size fiddles, keyboards and more percussion equipment.

Now is the perfect time to book your place for the next workshops in May and June at www.feisantairbeirt.com.
