Top quality trad coming to Tayvallich
DESCRIBED as a ‘high octane fiddle player’, Charlie McKerron is on his way to Tayvallich with top-notch musical friends.
Charlie’s last visit to the village two years ago was a big hit, and Tayvallich Village Hall has been working hard to bring him back for another concert.
Charlie has clocked up 25 years on the road as a professional musician. From winning the Daily Record Golden Fiddle award in the early 1980s he went on to join Gaelic super group ‘Capercaillie’ in 1984.
In 2005 he won Composer of the Year in the Scots Trad music awards and his compositions are widely performed and recorded by other artists. He has written music for films and documentaries, received two Royal Television Society awards for co-writing the music for the BBC2 Scotland Gaelic drama series Gruth is Uachdar (Crowdie and Cream) and composed the sound track for Scottish film Zip ‘n’ Zoo starring John Hannah.
Charlie will be joined by Inverness born Marc Clement on guitar. Marc is a founder member of ‘Blazin Fiddles’, a trad band that enjoys worldwide success.
