Bowled over by another winning season for Inveraray
ANOTHER successful season culminated with the presentation of prizes at Inveraray Carpet Bowling Club.
Around 20 members turned out at Inveraray Church Hall last Thursday for the prizegiving following the usual evening of bowling competition.
For the fifth time in six years, the club won the Loch Fyne League Trophy, contested between Portsonachan, Dalmally, Furnace, Cairndow and Inveraray bowling clubs. The clubs also recently sent rinks to take part in a one-off night of competition in Portsonachan and Inveraray came home with the Skips’ Cup.
The trophies were presented by Jenny Spiers, a member of the Inveraray club for many years.
Club chairman Duncan Robertson thanked members for their support during the season, adding: ‘It’s good to see so many young players coming along. The club champion this year was Archie, who’s just 12.
‘We are particularly pleased to have won the Loch Fyne League Trophy again. It’s been in existence since 1931.
‘I want to record the club’s appreciation for all the hard work done by Kenny Deacon,’ Duncan added. ‘Kenny is leaving the area after 10 years as secretary of this club and we want to thank him for his commitment over that time and wish him all the best.’
